Here's something you don't see everyday! While perusing Craigslist, I ran across this in the electronics section- a 1980 Sony front-projection TV. These things are immense, and were ludicrously expensive for the short time they were produced, but this guy was giving his away for free- granted you can get it out of the house. Easier said than done I'd imagine... It seems to me that this would be something NJP would have had kicking around at some point! Here's something you don't see everyday! Well ... Believe it or not...............
    OH no, another NJP story:

Actually you are not too far off the point. Back in early 1981 (in my early band days) I was friends with a bar owner who had one of these things set up in his bar. In fact, that was the machine I saw Star Trek - The Motion Picture for the first time.
I remember it was basically a really bright TV with the image backwards, shining through a huge lens onto a mirror aimed at the screen. A real pain to set up. The picture was not all that bright. Had to dim the lights in order to see it, but it did look pretty impressive...that is given the level of "technology" at the time.

Too bad I missed out on this freebie. I bet we could have made something cool from it. I am sure the original electronics would have been long since removed, but oh the possibilities! Id nothing else, it would be a cool showpiece from times gone by....a relic -- err, a "classic"! Oh, the word now would be "Vintage".

Well, it's a bit of a hike to where it's at, but the post says it "works great". https://greenbay.craigslist.org/...n-tv/6517113512.htmlWell, it's a bit of a hike to where it's at, but the post says it "works great". See more
