This ugly machine is the PanzerJager 38T "Hetzer". Built on the Czech Model 38 tank, the gold standard of tanks in 1938, the Hetzer was a powerful conversion up to a tank destroyer. With a low profile, sloped armor, and a powerful cannon, it was one of the few serious contenders on the Eastern Front to combat the T-34. An iconic machine that served well into the twilight of the war, the Hetzer is one beautifully ugly machine. This ugly machine is the PanzerJager 38T "Hetzer". The German A7V heavy tank from World War One. Only 20 machines were produced, and they did not fare very well on the field. It was the only tank developed by Germany during WW1. Today, only one still exists.

As promised,t he Schneider CA1 tank. Again this was essentially a modified tractor, and did not perform very well, though the Schneider tanks did somewhat better than the Saint Chamond tanks on the battlefield. The Scnheiders would be placed in secondary roles with the aadvent of the FT17.

The Saint Chamond was one of the first tanks deployed by France during World War One. It was essentially a modified tractor, and did not do well when crossing trenches compared to the British tanks, which had tracks that wrapped all the way around. The tank's successor, the Renault FT-17 light tank would fare much better than it's steampunk nightmare forefather. The Saint Chamond was one of the first tanks deployed by France during World War One. I'll see if I can find a picture of the Schneider, the Saint Chamond's "mini-me".
